From Service to Support: An Army Veteran’s Commitment to Military Families

As a proud Army veteran and former Military Police Officer, my journey has led me from serving our country to serving our military families. With over 30 years as a birth doula and more than 25 years as a trainer with DONA International, I’ve seen the strength and resilience of military spouses. That’s why I’m honored to offer MYCAA-funded birth doula training to help military spouses start a fulfilling and supportive career.

Professional Training, Personal Understanding

Military life has unique challenges, and I understand them well, having started attending births while in the military. My doula training goes beyond just teaching skills—it’s about providing support tailored to military spouses. By accepting MYCAA scholarships, I make this career path accessible and affordable, so active-duty military spouses can gain the skills they need without financial stress.

Making Education Accessible

The MYCAA (Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts) program provides up to $4,000 for education to eligible military spouses. I started offering MYCAA services in 2023 to help spouses use these benefits to build a career and create a supportive community.

Your Path to Doula Certification

My comprehensive birth doula training, covered by MYCAA, fits the unpredictable military lifestyle. With practical knowledge and compassionate guidance, my program prepares you to support expectant parents with confidence and care. Whether you’re seeking a new profession or meaningful work, my training is your first step toward becoming a certified doula.

After Your Certified Help Military Families

Once you’ve completed your doula certification through my DONA International approved doula training (a MyCAA-approved training program), you’re not just gaining a valuable credential—you’re also opening the door to further opportunities, including becoming a TRICARE-credentialed doula. This means you’ll be eligible to support military families under TRICARE’s Childbirth and Breastfeeding Support Demonstration (CBSD). If you’re interested in learning more about how to navigate the TRICARE credentialing process and why it’s such an important step for your doula career, check out my detailed guide here on how to get started.
